Bucket Truck & Aerial Lighting Services in SW Wisconsin

Aerial lighting: parking lot lights, pole lights, signs and any other overhead electrical work that needs a lift, done by our own bucket truck crew.

Our Own Bucket Truck, Our Own Electricians

Parking lot poles, lit signs, wall packs and high ceilings are all electrical work that a ladder cannot reach safely. Sparks Electrical Solutions runs its own bucket truck, so that work is scheduled like any other call instead of waiting on a rented lift or a second contractor. One licensed crew shows up, sets up, does the work at height and leaves the lot the way it found it. Electricians call this aerial lighting work: any fixture, sign or circuit that lives above ladder height.

The calls we see most: a parking lot that went dark, a pole head that flickers, a storefront sign that will not light, a wall pack twenty feet up a warehouse, and new poles that need wiring before the lot opens. Larger lighting projects are covered on our LED retrofits page and the commercial electrical page. This page is about the overhead work itself.

Lot Gone Dark?

Tell us how many poles are out and whether it is one light or a whole row. A single dead fixture is usually a lamp, driver or photocell. A whole row that is out points to the circuit, contactor or timer that feeds the group. We test at the panel first and fix the cause, not just the symptom.

Parking Lot and Pole Lighting

Pole lights take the worst of a Wisconsin year. Water in the pole head, a failed driver, a loose splice in the hand-hole and a corroded fuse holder are the usual faults. We bring the bucket truck, open the head, test the driver and lamp, check the in-line fuse and the wiring at the base, and replace what failed. If the pole is due for an upgrade, an LED head cuts energy use and usually brightens the lot. For new poles we handle the electrical side: conduit, wiring, in-pole fusing, the fixtures and the photocell or timer that runs them, coordinated with your site contractor on the bases and pole setting.

Signs, Wall Packs and Building Exteriors

Lit signs and wall packs sit where a ladder is not safe. We repair sign lighting, replace the transformers and LED drivers inside sign cabinets, swap wall packs and floodlights, and add photocells so the lights run themselves at dusk. For a new sign, we run the circuit and make the final connection once the sign company hangs it, so the sign lights up the day it goes in.

Shops, Barns and Warehouses

Tall interior spaces have the same problem: the fixtures are out of reach. Where the door height and floor allow, the bucket truck works indoors too. We replace and repair high-bay fixtures, add occupancy sensors so empty bays go dark on their own, and run new circuits for equipment mounted high on a wall or ceiling.

Safety, Scheduling and Permits

Bucket work is planned work. We cone off the work area, set the outriggers on firm ground, and schedule busy lots early, late or on a slower day so customers are not driving under the boom. When the job needs an electrical permit, such as a new circuit or new poles, we pull it and meet the inspector. Repairs and like-for-like fixture swaps usually do not.

Across the River in Minnesota

Bucket truck calls in La Crescent, Winona, Caledonia, Houston and the other southeast Minnesota towns we serve are handled by our master electrician licensed in Minnesota. Electrical permits and inspections there go through the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you have your own bucket truck?

Yes. Sparks Electrical Solutions runs its own bucket truck, so overhead work is scheduled like any other call instead of waiting on a rental lift or a second contractor. One licensed crew sets up, does the work at height and leaves the lot clean.

What is aerial lighting?

Aerial lighting is the trade term for any lighting that needs a lift to reach: parking lot poles, wall packs and floodlights high on a building, lit signs, and high-bay fixtures in shops, barns and warehouses. Repairs, upgrades to LED and new installs all count. Sparks does this work with its own bucket truck.

One parking lot light is out. Is that a quick fix?

Usually. A single dead fixture is most often a failed driver, lamp or photocell, which we replace from the bucket in one visit. While the head is open we also check the in-line fuse and the wiring at the base of the pole so the same light does not fail again next month.

The whole lot went dark. What is wrong?

When every pole on a circuit is out at once, the fault is usually at the panel, the lighting contactor, the timer or the photocell that controls the group, not in the fixtures. We test at the panel first and fix the cause, then check each pole so the lot comes back fully lit.

Can you work while the lot is open?

Yes, with cones and a planned work area. For busy lots we can come early, late or on a slower day. Tell us your hours when you call and we will plan around them.

Do you install new parking lot lights?

Yes. We handle the electrical side: conduit and wiring, in-pole fusing, the pole-head fixtures, and the photocell or timer that runs them, coordinated with your site contractor on the concrete bases and pole setting. LED heads are the standard choice for new poles.
