Solar & Battery Services in SW Wisconsin

Repair, re-roof reinstall, battery backup and new installs.

Solar Service From a Local Electrical Contractor

Sparks Electrical Solutions offers solar and battery service, led by our master electrician licensed in Wisconsin and Minnesota, who has solar industry experience. The focus is the electrical side of solar: keeping existing systems producing, moving arrays off a roof and back on, and wiring batteries for outage backup. Customers can call the same Holmen office they already use for panels, generators and troubleshooting.

Solar is an electrical system first. Panels make direct current, inverters convert it, and the result ties into your service panel under National Electrical Code Articles 690 and 705. A fault in any one of those pieces shows up as a quiet array or a dead monitoring app, and sorting it out takes a licensed electrician with the right meters rather than a guess from the driveway.

The Four Solar Services

Most calls fall into one of four groups. Pick the one closest to your situation, and we will adjust once we see the system. Each of these has its own page with details on scope, process and what to have ready before we visit. Starting with the closest match saves time on the phone, and the electrician will confirm or adjust once the system is in front of them.

Who Solar Service Is For

We service systems no matter who installed them, including arrays that have stopped producing. Farm owners with a shop or machine shed roof covered in panels need the same care, plus attention to dust, wildlife and long conduit runs. Small business owners with a rooftop system face one more wrinkle: a tenant improvement or roof replacement can force the array off the building. We work on all of these, and we will tell you plainly what a visit should accomplish before it starts.

How a Service Call Runs

We begin on the phone, collecting the age of the system, the inverter type, what the monitoring shows and when the trouble began. On site, the electrician reviews the monitoring history, inspects the array, combiner and disconnects, and measures voltage and current instead of assuming. You get a clear explanation of what is wrong and what it would take to fix. Work is done to NEC Article 690 and your utility's interconnection rules, and the system is tested before we leave.

Where We Offer Solar Service

Solar and battery service is available throughout our Wisconsin territory: La Crosse, Trempealeau, Jackson, Buffalo, Monroe and Vernon Counties. Minnesota towns, utilities and inspection details are on our Minnesota service area section, and every Minnesota job is handled by our master electrician licensed in Minnesota. Utility rules vary by territory, and we follow the one that serves your address.

Incentives and the Federal Credit

The federal Residential Clean Energy Credit, Section 25D, is not available for any property placed in service after December 31, 2025. It used to cover solar and batteries of 3 kWh or more. Business owners should ask a tax advisor what applies to a business system. Programs also change from year to year, so confirm current terms before you commit.

State and utility programs are separate. Focus on Energy in Wisconsin and Xcel Energy's Solar*Rewards in Minnesota apply to new systems only, not repairs, and both set their own eligibility rules. The program websites (focusonenergy.com and xcelenergy.com) are the final word on current terms. Neither program is a reason to skip a licensed electrician, since interconnection approval and inspection still apply.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who does the solar and battery work?

Solar and battery work is led by our master electrician licensed in Wisconsin and Minnesota. Call (608) 871-1379 to describe your system and schedule a visit.

Do you only work on systems you installed?

No. Who installed the array does not change how we diagnose it. We start by measuring what the system is doing and report what we find.

Can a solar system be repaired, or does it need replacing?

Usually it can be repaired. A failed inverter, loose connector or tripped ground-fault protection is a specific, fixable problem. We explain what failed so you can decide with real information.

Does Focus on Energy pay for solar repairs?

No. The Focus on Energy residential solar rebate applies to new systems, not repairs. Check focusonenergy.com for current rules, or ask us when you call and we will explain what applies to your project.

Do you serve both Wisconsin and Minnesota?

We serve our six Wisconsin counties now. Southeast Minnesota work is led by our master electrician licensed in Minnesota. Details are on our service areas page.

Is the federal solar tax credit still available?

Not for homeowners. The Section 25D credit does not apply to property placed in service after December 31, 2025. For a business system, ask your tax advisor what applies. Programs from your state or utility are separate questions.
