Smart Home Automation in SW Wisconsin

Smart switches, thermostats, locks, cameras, shades and voice control, installed and wired right by a licensed master electrician.

Smart Devices Need a Real Electrician Behind the Wall

Most smart devices fail at the wall box: no neutral wire for the smart switch, a dimmer that buzzes, a thermostat with no C-wire, a hub parked in a weak Wi-Fi corner. Sparks installs smart switches, dimmers, outlets, thermostats, locks, doorbells and cameras, fixes the wiring they need and puts a strong network behind them.

We work with the platform you already use, whether that is a voice assistant, a phone app or a whole-home control system, and set it up so everyone in the house can use it.

What's Included

  • Smart switches and dimmers, with neutral wires added where missing
  • Smart thermostats and C-wire installation
  • Smart locks, doorbells and cameras
  • Lighting scenes, schedules and motion automation
  • Smart outlets for lamps, fans and holiday lighting
  • Garage door, gate and driveway alerts
  • Voice assistants and hubs set up and connected
  • Whole-home control systems
  • Wi-Fi coverage to the far corners of the house
  • Smart panel, EV charger and generator tie-ins

Smart Panels Too

A smart electrical panel shows every circuit in the house on your phone, sheds load when the generator is running and schedules the EV charger for off-peak hours. It is the one smart device that makes the whole house smarter, and we install those as well.

Lighting Control

Dimmers that fade the kitchen at dinner, a scene that turns the whole first floor off from the bedroom, three-way circuits that still work from both switches, and outdoor lights that come on at dusk by themselves. We wire the switches correctly first, then program the scenes.

Comfort and Energy

A smart thermostat with a proper C-wire, control for mini splits, a schedule for the water heater and off-peak EV charging. Paired with a smart panel you can see what each circuit uses and trim the bill without thinking about it.

Security and Access

Smart locks and a doorbell camera so you can let the plumber in from work, cameras that turn on the yard lights when they see motion, and alerts when the garage door is left open. Everything on one app, wired so it keeps working after the Wi-Fi hiccups.

Across the River in Minnesota

Calls in La Crescent, Winona, Caledonia, Houston and the other southeast Minnesota towns we serve are handled by our master electrician licensed in Minnesota. Electrical permits and inspections there go through the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a neutral wire for a smart switch?

Many smart switches do, and older homes often have no neutral at the switch box. We either pull a neutral to the box or choose a switch designed to work without one. Either way it is done to code, not with a workaround.

Will it work with the voice assistant I already have?

Yes. We pick devices that match the platform you use and connect them to it before we leave.

Can my current switches be made smart without replacing them?

Sometimes. An in-wall relay module behind the existing switch can do it, which keeps the look of a decorator or heritage switch. Otherwise we swap the switch for a smart one that matches the rest of the room.

What about my Wi-Fi?

Smart devices load the network, and the far bathroom or garage is usually where they drop off. We add wired access points where the signal is weak so every device stays connected.

Is smart home only for new houses?

No. Most of our smart home work is in existing homes, one room or one problem at a time. Start with the switches you touch most and grow from there.
